Brother worked late last night.... and now tonight too.... I, the little loner, am sooooo lonely and at a loose end. I wanted to ask someone to go to dinner with me, but I actually loathe trying to make last minute plans, especially seeing as I'm sans car at the moment. I have a lot of friends, but somehow still seem to have nights where I don't know who to call, or who I feel like being with.... so ridiculous. I wanted something low key, so ended up making myself a pizza, cracking a bottle of wine, starting a bit of a "Lie To Me" marathon, while dabbling with work mail. So current state is - couch, wine, show, laptop.
I feel a bit insecure - not about work now, just in the way that I teared up over someone's wedding video today, and got misty eyed over Granny. And I wish I had someone to cuddle on the couch. Gone drug free today, so my shoulders are seized up to my ears. Bleeeeeergh.... and I'm denied my kitten.
Maybe it's time to design my own footy pyjamas with a special wine pocket - like a straw into a pap sak type set-up.... who needs a boyfriend when I can be drunk 'n comfy?
Started out as a blog about me trying to find self control... now turned more personal... with me still searching

The World According to Merlot
What a creative evening...
Finished a painting I started ages ago... here it is, as requested by loyal fan ;)
Finished a bottle of Merlot... well almost...
Received lovely compliments on writing and advice to leave day job from darling friend (aka loyal fan seeking photos of my latest painting)
Managed to bbm the word "fuckwit" so many times that my phone doesn't even try to autocorrect it... in response to another darling friend's latest dating drama. And mother darling, I'm not swearing, merely quoting my namesake from Bridget Jones ;)
Purpose of this post was mostly to show-off my latest painting... oh wait, you can get an update on my "getting to work 30 minutes early" - short answer is, I haven't, BUT I've been soooo much more focussed that last two days *chuckles to self*
Go forth and weekend dear reader, for tomorrow morning... I set forth to read to kids in Bo-Kaap (there's more to me that wine guzzling...)

White carbs covered in margarine… and wine… so proud *face palm*
So day 3 of no series… or wine… *looks around, takes a sip of wine* SHUTTUP… it was a long weird day. My posts will very likely be more personal from now on, because, well, I feel like it.
So wine in hand, I type (well not really, I’m typing with both hands like a grown-up, using most of my fingers) – what was my point? My fridge is full of spinach, yes, full… as in 3 huge bunches of wild spinach have taken over my fridge (remember Monday’s F&V adventure?), so naturally I don’t make juice for dinner, but rather defrost some veggie-curry-soup-concoction, and grab white toast as an appetizer. It is winter after all – the curry burnt slightly while I was typing stupid things and then deleting them – it’s actually delicious now!
I will leave you with this thought, a quote sent to me by my coach (I will elaborate on this in another post)
“I must learn to love the fool in me-the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbour and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.”

You can, but I can't: Drunken Rocking The Daisies
Does RTD even need a write up? http://www.rockingthedaisies.com/
If you have never, then you must... hate to admit... this is a classic October activity where I've lost my reputation but made some lasting friends :)
Do horribly have too much working going on during this time... so maybe better I'm sitting it out... (unless I magically win tickets... maybe I'm just cheap? Could I do it sober?)

I'll join your cult!
With three good drinking evenings left before Sober October... I found myself hovering around the wine section of PnP... as one does before leaving loved ones for a month: reassuring the gorgeous bottles that I would be back... in November.
Whilst hovering (lurking?), I made a gorgeous, extremely yummy discovery, in Cloof's recently released Cabernet Cult wine, the label says its all:
“How would it be if a wine left the winery exactly as Mother Nature intended? No made-up coffee flavours. No stories about the grapes being crushed between the thighs of a red-haired virgin. No ageing in oak barrels from the other side of the earth. And definitely no recommendations to drink it with fish or pasta.
Cabernet Cult - for the wine critic inside every one of us. It will impress our friends because they enjoy drinking it, not because of a five-star rating by a dude we've never met (which is how $100 cult wines are created by fancy-pants marketers).
Join the Cult... a new kind of cult cabernet.”

Just what I'd expect from the farm who hosts Rocking The Daisies every year! (no, I'm not going... well unless I win tickets...)
Cheers!
