Fashion Twins : Day 30 #100daysofwriting

Time really flies and I can't believe that Brother and I bought our flat just over 2.5 years ago. I think we exceeded most peoples expectations and are absolutely best friends.

Tonight when I got home he wanted shoe advice because we are going to a wedding in the morning. We ended up playing with outfit options and I had to agree that he had actually chosen a great outfit for himself. Who doesn't love a man with style?

I decided I needed an outfit run through too and in turn got his advice. It also boiled down to choosing between two pairs of shoes and Brother suggesting I add a belt!

I really dig stuff like this. I'm really blessed.

Domestic Bliss #100creativedays Day 89

I'm finding so much joy lately in cooking, baking, sorting and just making our home perfect.

I suppose I get the urge every so often to sort, purge, rearrange and scrub. Maybe its seasonal? Maybe an outward manifestation of how I'm doing the same emotionally and spiritually. Getting my house in order, as it were.

I made a pot of butternut soup that will sort out our lunches for the next two days. Butternut is Dukan friendly, tasty and cheap. I portion out servings into glass jars. I screw the lids on while the soup is still hot for a super tight seal - ensuring freshness and no drips. I know The Squire gets ragged a bit at work, but jars of soup are the way forward... And jealousy is rife in the plastic-lunch-box-boring-sarmie ranks.

I get a feeling of satisfaction from "looking after" The Squire... Yes, I might put women's lib back a few years, but I'm taking good care of myself too.

I also derive weird joy out of folding laundry. Maybe it stems back to it being my main chore when I was little? Sorting was always a good way to keep me busy. Or my retail background and the strange zen of folding shirts with military precision? Who knows? I like folding, The Squire loves ironing... We really have the perfect set up.

I also pottered around on the balcony, checking on my plants, tidying up empty pots, putting aside a pile of pots for charity.

I sorted some of my grocery cupboards too, and the fridge. Everything feels fresh and neat.

Now I can rest comfortably under fresh bedding too... Mmmm... I love it when I've been in housewife mode... Makes me fall quite in love with myself :)

Sharona's Make It Better Curry #100creativedays Day 37

It was one of those days...

I wore horrible trousers - loose at the waist and toit at the thigh... Leaving me waddling around like Justin Bieber with a poo in his nappy.

I'm also trying to leave my hair loose, but by the end of the day I wanted to shave my head... How does anyone maneuver with a handbag and laptop bag with a flowing mane over their shoulders?
I pulled my own hair waaaay too many times today.

Then the normal stuff of cold weather, hungry tummies, car issues, nagging people, money worries, a huge angry pimple... Blah blah blah.

As soon as I got home I tied my hair up, got rid of the horrible trousers, whisked off the strapless bra that had been sagging all day (sorry, didn't mention that before)... Once I was clad in the pj pants, uggs and a huge hoodie... I felt human again.

Then dinner. The Squire was wrestling with a broken down car and I'd promised him Nandos... But our resident Nandos is under renovation. Now in my snuggle uniform I had no intention of hitting Spar... So I needed to make a plan. I decided to attempt a chicken curry... It came out soooo well!!! Squire was very very impressed!

So how did I do it?

I had ready grilled chicken breasts (with Dukan we usually have cooked chicken handy), so I just chopped them roughly into chunks. Chunks got a light fry in a blob of margarine just to brown them, a squirt of honey for a bit of caramelized flavour. Then I liberally added: smoked paprika (YES PLEASE), curry powder, cayenne pepper, rosemary and cinnamon. Once beautifully coated in flavour, I added some plain yoghurt and let it simmer into a gorgeous curry sauce.

I might have added some chutney, coriander and a few other Indian spices had I had them handy.

You could totally add onion, carrots, chickpeas etc. Serve with papadums, pita, rice... Or just on it's own for a Dukan protein friendly dinner!

And I'm claiming double creative points for inventing a recipe and writing about it!

Home #100creativedays Day 22

My day came crashing down around me towards the end. My head swum with images of suffocating dark water... Very attractive dark water with greens, teals and blues... And a disturbing little orange fish... like Nemo... who kept darting away from my grasp.

Then I came home, and I pressed my lips to Arizona's dark fur, and The Squire let me lament, and then he put his arms around me and told me that I can't expect other people to understand. He understands though.

Now, post shower, cuddled up in pjs... I can breathe. And sleep.
Oh, how I will sleep.
