"Maxim Velčovský—a fast-rising star in the design world—converts everyday, throwaway objects into art made of porcelain or glass. With the Fast Cup, the Czech designer created a Dixie-style cup of glass—each is hand blown from borosilicate, so each is slightly different. Maxim explained that this was a deliberate choice: He wanted to take the form as far away from its plastic, mass-produced origins as possible. The lightness of this glass makes it a pleasure to drink from. But it's equally as beautiful as an objet d'art."
